Post Season 1/7/09The Pittsford S'Women team members and their families gathered one last time to celebrate their 2008 S’Women accomplishments. The Varsity S’Women had another undefeated season and easily won their 7th straight Section V Class A Championship. They had 2 Class A Sectional individual champions, Sarah Dempsey in the 200 yard Individual Medley and Meghan Green in the 500 yard Freestyle and 2 Class A Sectional relay champions, Green, Danielle Phillips, Dempsey and Katie Dobler in the 200 yard Medley Relay and Dobler, Dempsey, Alex Trobe and Emma Miller in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay. They finished 3rd as a team in the NY State championship meet. They had 1 relay qualify for All-American consideration, the 400 yard Freestyle Relay. The 2007 team was ranked 3rd in the nation among similar sized schools. And not only was it talented in the pool, but it was also smart. It’s cumulative GPA ranked it 1st in NY state and 3rd in the nation among other swim teams. They also had 7 seniors who were named Academic All-Americans on the 2007 team – Alana Biltucci, Aly Criscuolo, Rachel DeLahunta, Kelley Groves, Jenny Lewis, Lindsay Matthews and Olivia Tylutki. This year’s team finished #1 in New York State based on NISCA power points and are still waiting to hear where they finished in the national rankings.The 2008 team had thirty-six Varsity and JV S’Women qualifiy for the Section V Championships, and nine qualify for the State Team. Ten were named 1st team All-County and 4 were named to the 2nd team. Four swimmers were named to 1st Team All-Greater Rochester. They had 2 NY State Scholar Athletes, the Section V Division I Swimmer of the Year and the Donna Jean Mooney Sportsmanship Award winner and runner-up. The JV S’Women finished their 11th straight undefeated season. Quite a list of accomplishments.Varsity letters were awarded to Maddie Ashworth, Erica Bryson, Jennifer Conklin, Erin Connolly, Carrie DeMoulin, Sarah Dempsey, Shannon Dempsey, Emily DiPaulo, Kathryn Dobler, Meghan Green, Amanda House, Rachel House, Elizabeth Maier, Emma Miller, Danielle Phillips, Danielle Proper, Jennifer Proper, Jenny Riley, Alex Trobe, Mallory Ward and Kala Wilkins. JV S’Women who achieved Sectional Qualifying times and earned varsity letters were Emily Carroll, Kaelan Fennell, Anna Grazulis, Katie Hart, Emily Himes, Olivia Holodnik, Helaina Hummel, Audrey Hunt, Lydia Hunt, Izzy Joynt, Jenna Mattina, Andrea Meyer, Sydney Ryan, Jamie Tyler and Mackenzie Ward.1st team All-County honors went to Maddie Ashworth, Erica Bryson, Sarah Dempsey, Shannon Dempsey, Katie Dobler, Meghan Green, Rachel House, Emma Miller, Danielle Phillips and Alex Trobe. 2nd team honors went to Jennifer Conklin, Carrie DeMoulin, Elizabeth Maier and Jennifer Proper. 1st Team All-Greater Rochester honors went to Sarah Dempsey, Katie Dobler, Meghan Green and Alex Trobe. Meghan Green won the Donna Jean Mooney Sportsmanship Award for Section V, which is award to the swimmer who demonstrates sportsmanship, character and dedication to the sport of swimming and she also was one of the New York State Scholar Athletes. Alex Trobe was the runner up for the Donna Jean Mooney Sportsmanship Award, was one of the New York State Scholar Athletes and was awarded the team Sportsmanship Award. Sarah Dempsey was named Section V Division 1 Swimmer of the Year and also team MVP.Maddie Ashworth and Sarah Dempsey were elected captains for the 2009 season. Looking forward to the coming years, Coach Keating acknowledged that the six departing seniors will be missed, but as has been the case over the recent past, there always seems to be talent to fill the vacant slots. He will continue to add a little oil, make some adjustments and the machine known as the S’Women will continue to roll on and on.
