Lady Panther Swimmers Claim Victories During Spirit Week
It was a busy week for the Lady Panther Swimmers as they competed in two highly competitive meets. On Thursday 10/11/01 the Lady Panthers traveled to Webster, and defeated the Webster Warriors 102 to 84. Highlights of the meet were the 1st place win by the 200 Medley Relay Team of Susan Allen, Katie Harris, Hailey Weniger, and Kate Wilson. The relay swam a season best time of 1.55.72. The 200 free event was won by Hailey Weniger , with Katie Harris earning 3rd place points with a season best time swim. The 200 IM was a strong event for Webster, as Aubrey Kirchoff placed 1st. The Lady Panthers earned second, third, and fourth place points as Katie House placed 2nd, Allen 3rd, and Courtney Brayman touched in fourth. The Lady Panthers led 28 to 18 after the 200 IM.
The 50 free was won by Kate Wilson, with Stephie House earning 4th place points. Webster won the diving competition, with Pittsford Divers Rencis placing 2nd, Ambrogi-Yanson 4th, and Bircher 6th place. The Lady Panthers led by 6 points after the diving competition. The 100 fly found the Panthers touching in at 1st with Brayman, 2nd with Stephie House, and 4th place by Weniger. The 100 free was won by Wilson , with Monica Jaferian earning 2nd place points. The 500 freestyle was won by Webster, with Emily Freitag placing 3rd, and Jen Hazen earning 4th place points. The 200 free relay found the Panthers with a 1st and 3rd place finish. The 100 backstroke was a strong event for Pittsford, as Allen touched in 1st, Jaferian 2nd, and Liz Forbes earned 4th place points. The 100 breaststroke secured the win for Pittsford as Katie Harris touched in at 2nd, Katie House 3rd, and Kim Curry swam a best time of 119.09.
On Friday, October 12th the Lady Panthers hosted the New Hartford Team. The 200 medley relay team of Susan Allen, Katie Harris, Courtney Brayman, and Stephie House swam to a 1st place finish. The 200 freestyle earned 5 points for Pittsford as Weniger placed 2nd, and Monica Jaferian placed 5th. The score was tied 15 to 15. The 200 IM brought the score back in favor of Pittsford, as Katie House swam to a 1st place finish in the 200 IM, with Allen placing 2nd, and Brayman earning 4th place points. Divers Bircher placed 2nd, Amrogi-Yanson 5th, and Nikki Rencis earned 6th place. At the conclusion of diving, Pittsford led by only 2 points, 40 to 38. The 100 fly created a greater point spread as Brayman swam to 2nd place,Stephie House 3rd, and Libby Brush 4th. Brush swam a best time of 107.84.Kate Wilson won the 100 free, with Weniger placing 3rd, and Prezzano placing 6th. The 500 free was an exciting event for Pittsford, with Freitag placing 2nd, Kelly Vaughan 3rd, and Jen Hazen 4th. Pittsford led by 8 points entering the 200 free relay. The team of Stephie House, Susan Allen, Weniger, and Kate Wilson swam to 1st place, and the team led by 10 points. The backstroke was won by Allen, with Liz Forbes placing 3rd , and Jaferian 4th. In order to win the meet 94 points are needed. The meet was secured as Katie Harris touched in 1st in the breaststroke with a personal best time of 112.76 for the season. Katie House earned 4th place points, and Kim Curry swam a personal best time. The 400 free relay was won by New Hartford, and the meet concluded with the win by Pittsford 100 to 86.
