Lady Panther Swimmers Fall Short Against Fairport
The Lady Panther Swimmers, despite a great meet, came up short against Fairport last Tuesday (Oct.16), 83 to 102. The Lady Panthers started out the meet by winning the 200 medley relay, as the team of Susan Allen, Katie Harris, Hailey Weniger, and Kate Wilson placed 1st, and the team of Liz Forbes, Katie House, Courtney Brayman, and Lindsay Richardson earned 3rd place points. The team of Pamela Hancock, Kim Curry, Libby Brush, and Alison Rouzer touched in at 6th place. Harris swam a season best time, along with teammates Liz Forbes ,Courtney Brayman, Kim Curry, and Alison Rouzer. Pittsford scored in depth in all the individual events, placing 1st in only 1 relay event and 1 individual event.
Hailey Weniger placed 3rd in the 200 free, with Katie Harris touching in at 4th, and Kelly Vaughan 5th with a season best time. Katie House earned 2nd place points in the 200 IM with a season best time swim. Susan Allen earned 5th place points. Pitsford placed 2nd in the 50 free by Kate Wilson, with a season best time, and Stephie House added 4th place points with a season best time swim. Lindsay Richardson placed 6th with a season best time swim. Fairport won the diving event, and the Lady Panthers placed 2nd by Meredith Bircher, 3rd by Jesse Ambrogi-Yanson, and 4th by Nikki Rencis.
After the diving competition, the Lady Panthers came back strong in the 100 fly, with Brayman earning 2nd place with a season best time, and Stephie House placing 3rd, and Libby Brush adding to the Panther points with a fourth place finish. The Panthers were behind by 3 points as they entered the 100 free. The Fairport Swimmers dominated the event, leaving Pittsford with second place points by Kate Wilson with a season best time swim, and Monica Jaferian earning 5th place points with a season best time swim. Richardson placed 6th. Pittsford trailed by 9 points at the end of the 100 free, and never closed the gap, despite great performances by the Lady Panthers. In the 500 free, Hailey Weniger placed 3rd, Emily Freitag 5th, and Jen Hazen 6th. The 200 free relay team of Sephie House, Allen, Weniger, and Wilson placed 2nd, with Hazen, Brayman, Harris, and Jaferian placing 4th. The team of Kelly Rowe, Libby Brush, Alison Rouzer, and Kelly Vaughan placed sixth. The 100 backstroke was the second event the Panthers placed 1st in, and dominated, with Susan Allen touching in at 1st, Jaferian 2nd, and Forbes 3rd place. The 100 breaststroke was a strong event for the Panthers, with Harris earning 2nd place points, Katie House, 3rd, and Kim Curry 5th place points.
The 400 free relay was the concluding event for the meet, and the team of Stephie House, Katie House, Kelly Vaughan, and Monica Jaferian placed 2nd, with the team of Jen Hazen, Libby Brush, Lindsay Richardson, and Emily Freitag placing 4th, and Kelly Rowe, Kim Curry, Alison Rouzer, and Pam Hancock placing 6th. The Lady Panthers have concluded their dual meet season, and will continue to train for their sectional meet set for November 8th .
