S’Women down the Cougars, lose to the Braves of Canandaigua
Pittsford,
It
was week of mixed emotions for the S’Women of Pittsford. A decisive victory against HFL was followed
by a disappointing loss to Canandaigua.
In
Tuesday’s home meet against the Cougars, the varsity foursome of Jennifer
Proper, Mallory Ward, Erica Bryson and Kala Wilkins won the 200 medley relay
with a time of 1:56.33. In second place
with a time of 2:01.51 was the combo of Danielle Proper, Danielle Phillips,
Sydney Ryan and Elizabeth Maier. Placing
fifth, were Lydia Hunt, Mackenzie Ward, Olivia Roche and Courtney Stern
(2:14.07).
Shannon
Dempsey captured first place in the 200 free with a time of 2:05.74. Third and fourth place went to Stephanie
Andrews (2:10.47) and Danielle Proper (2:10.49).
Pittsford
went 1, 2, and
In
the 50 free, Jenny Riley finished second (26.04), Elizabeth Maier third (26.28)
and Kala Wilkins placed fourth (26.59).
Erica
Bryson won the 100 fly in a time of 1:02.40 while Jennifer Proper and Sydney
Ryan finished third (1:04.29) and fifth (1:12.00) respectively.
With
a time of 57.36, Elizabeth Maier placed second in the 100 free while Anna
Grazulis (57.97) and Kala Wilkins (58.02) placed third and fourth.
Olivia
Holodnik took first place in the 500 free in a time of 5:30.59. Danielle Proper
captured second (5:40.64) while Stephanie Andrews finished fourth swimming the
event in 5:57.96.
The
200 free relay was won by the foursome of Anna Grazulis, Elizabeth Maier, Jenny
Riley and Kala Wilkins (1:43.43).
Shannon Dempsey, Mackenzie Ward, Amanda House and Olivia Holodnik took
third with a time of 1:51.82. Fourth
place went to Olivia Roche, Stephanie Andrews, Lainy Hummel and Lydia Hunt
(1:53.87).

the meet’s final event, the relay team of Jennifer Proper, Erica Bryson, Jenny
Riley and Anna Grazulis won the 400 free in a time of 3:49.95. Pittsford’s “B” relay of Olivia Holodnik ,
Danielle Phillips, Danielle Proper and Shannon Dempsey finished second
(3:59.07) and the “C” relay of Jenna Mattina, Lainy Hummel, Emily Carroll, and
Kaelan Fennell finished fourth (4:13.95).
In
the diving competition, Carrie DeMoulin won with a score of 167.8.
The
Junior Varsity squad did equally well against HFL. In the 200 medley relay,
Pittsford placed 1, 2 and 3. The “A”
relay of Curran, Tuttle, Branch and McPherson won with a time of 2:11.09. Placing second (2:15.90) was the “B” relay of
Cavanagh, Yaeger, Likly, and Daniels.
Third place went to the “C” combo of Gallagher, Fan, Davidoff and
Gaffney (2:23.38).

Waldman (2:28.48) and Laura Petishnok (2:29.34) went 1-
In
the 200 IM, Audrey Hunt and Meagn Branch went 1-2 with times of 2:38.36 and
2:38.82. Linda Fan finished fourth (2:58.44).
The
JV went 1, 2 and
Meagan
Branch (31.17), Leslie Davidoff (34.41) and Olivia Waldman (35.42) finished
first, second and third in the 50 butterfly.
The
100 free was won by Katie McPherson (1:03.37) while Nina Daniels finished
second with a time of 1:06.77. Picking
up fourth place was Audrey Higgins (1:11.76).
Caroline
Curran won the 500 free in a time of 6:21.03 while Laura Petishnok (6:43.91)
and Genevieve Yaeger (6:49.47) captured second and third place.
The
“A” foursome of Joynt, Hunt, Waldman and McPherson won the 200 free relay
(1:55.31). The combination of Daniels,
Cavanagh, Likly and Tuttle took second place (1:58.61) while Higgins, Farid,
Davidoff and Kumar placed fifth (2:23.86).
Audrey
Hunt (1:16.74), Olivia Gallagher (1:19.07) and Erin Gaffney (1:20.54) placed
first, second and third in the 100 back.
In
the 100 breast, Caroline Tuttle won the event in a time of 1:26.53 while Linda
Fan placed second (1:28.87). Sixth place
went to Sanjana Kumar (1:41.89).
The
400 free relay was won by the foursome of Joynt, Branch, Waldman and Hunt (4:25.21). Second place went to the combo of Curran,
Cavanagh, Yaeger, and Likly in a time of 4:32.28 while Mayall, Farid, Gallagher
and Selbodnik took third (5:14.85).
The
final score for the varsity portion of the dual meet was103 to 74,
Pittsford. While the junior varsity team
won by a score of 99 to 52.
Thursday’s
meet against Canandaigua was expected to be a big test for the S’Women and it
lived up to the predications. In the end, although many of the varsity girls
swam “best times” for the season, the Braves were too strong. Canandaigua won the contest 169 to 131.
In
the first event of the meet, the 200 medley relay, the foursome of Jennifer Proper, Danielle Phillips, Erica
Bryson and Elizabeth Maier finished second (1:56.06). Danielle Proper, Mallory Ward, Sydney Ryan
and Kala Wilkins were fourth (2:01.31) and the combination of Lydia Hunt,
Mackenzie Ward, Olivia Roche and Lainy Hummel finished sixth (2:09.67).
Pittsford’s
Olivia Holodnik placed fourth (2:04.98), Shannon Dempsey fifth (2:05.47),
Danielle Phillips sixth (2:09.72) and Mallory Ward seventh (2:13.08) in the 200
free.
In
the 200 IM, second place went to Danielle Phillips (2:18.86) while fourth and
fifth place went to Jennifer Proper (2:21.40) and Amanda House (2:25.99). Sydney Ryan finished eighth (2:32.11).
Second,
third, fourth and sixth place in the 50 free went to Jenny Riley (26.02),
Elizabeth Maier (26.10), Kala Wilkins (26.12) and Anna Grazulis (26.91)
respectively.
With
a score of 167.15, Carrie DeMoulin took first place in the diving competition.
Erica
Bryson won the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.81 and Jennifer Proper picked up
fourth place (1:03.55). Finishing in fifth and seventh were Lydia Hunt and
Sydney Ryan with times of 1:10.00 and 1:10.51.
In
the 100 free, Kala Wilkins took second place (56.00) while Elizabeth Maier
(57.00) placed third. Anna Grazulis
(58.58) and Shannon Dempsey (59.49) finished in sixth and seventh place.

second (1:43.30) in the 200 free relay.
Shannon Dempsey, Lainy Hummel, Amanda House and Olivia Holodnik finished
in fourth place (1:51.49) while Olivia Roche, Mackenzie Ward, Sydney Ryan and
Lydia Hunt came in sixth (1:54.66).
Courtney Stern, Jenna Mattina, Emily Carroll and Kaelan Fennell placed
seventh (1:58.10).
In
the 100 back, Erica Bryson took second place with a time of 1:04.29 while Jenny
Riley finished fourth (1:05.91). In
sixth place was Lydia Hunt (1:11.73) and finishing eighth was Emily Carroll
(1:14.58).
Danielle
Phillips (1:10.94) and Mallory Ward (1:11.78) finished third and fourth in the
100 breast while Amanda House and Mackenzie Ward sixth and eighth with times of
1:12.43 and 1:16.91.
In
the meet’s final event – the 400 free relay – Pittsford’s Jennifer Proper,
Erica Bryson, Danielle Phillips, and Anna Grazulis placed second with a time of
3:47.69. Olivia Holodnik, Jenny Riley,
Amanda House and Shannon Dempsey finished third (3:58.81) and Jenna Mattina,
Lainy Hummel, Olivia Roche, and Mackenize Ward picked up sixth place
(4:13.47).
Pittsford’s
Junior Varsity team fared better against Canandaigua. In the 200 medley relay of Julia Cavanagh,
Caroline Tuttle, Megan Branch and Katie McPherson won with a time of
2:10.32. Placing third and fourth were
the foursomes of Olivia Gallagher, Genevieve Yaeger, Alyssa Likly and Olivia
Waldman (2:16.89) and Erin Gaffney, Linda Fan, Leslie Davidoff and Katie
Siebodnik (2:25.22).
The
200 free was won by Audrey Hunt in a time of 2:12.87 while Caroline Curran
picked up third place (2:21.04). Fourth
and fifth place went to Nina Daniels and Laura Petishnok with times of 2:26.62
and 2:27.94.
In
the 200 IM, Megan Branch placed first with a time of 2:37.44 followed by Linda
Fan picking up third (2:53.64), Julia Cavanagh finishing in fourth (2:53.88)
and Audrey Higgins coming in fifth (2:59.96).
Katie
McPherson (28.38), Olivia Waldman (29.03) and Caroline Tuttle (29.35) finished
In
the 50 fly, Meagan Branch finished first with a time of 30.79. Alyssa Likly, Leslie Davidoff and Genevieve
Yaeger finished 3rd, 4th and 5th with times of 32.78, 35.09 and 36.91
respectively.
Katie
McPherson completed the 100 free in a time of 1:03.89 to take first place.
Olivia Waldman finished third (1:05.62) while Nina Daniels placed fourth
(1:07.22). Megan Mayall placed sixth with a time of 1:15.12.
The
500 free was won by Audrey Hunt in a time of 5:58.37. Laura Petishnok and Katie Siebodnik took
third and fourth place with times of 6:39.57 and 7:22.80.
Pittsford’s
foursome of McPherson, Likly, Tuttle and Hunt won the 200 free relay
(1:56.30). Daniels, Davidoff, Yaeger and
Waldman finished in third place (2:04.42) while Higgins, Farid, Kumar and
Mayall placed fifth (2:24.77).
In
the 100 back, Caroline Tuttle (1:11.25), Julia Cavanagh (1:14.59), Olivia
Gallagher (1:19.76) and Erin Gaffney (1:21.45) went 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Genevieve
Yaeger (1:25.81), Linda Fan (1:28.45) and Caroline Tuttle (1:32.02) finished
the 100 breast in third, fourth and fifth place.
Finally,
in the last event of the JV competition, the combination of Branch, Curran,
Likly, and Hunt won (4:19.46) the 400 free relay. Coming in fourth place (5:31.19) was the
group of Kumar, Farid, Mayall, and Fan.
The
final score was Pittsford JV 171 to Canandaigua’s 93.
