Rush Henrietta & Empire Invitational 10/08/08
The Pittsford S'Women had 2 big meets this past week and won both. On Thursday, the S'Women had their last home meet of the year where they faced a tough Rush-Henrietta Team. The six seniors on the Pittsford team, Meghan Green, Rachel House, Emily DiPaulo, Katie Dobler, Emma Miller and Alex Trobe were recognized by their teammates at this meet.
In the Varsity 200 yard medley relay, the team of Meghan Green, Danielle Phillips, Sarah Dempsey and Shannon Dempsey finished 1st with Maddy Ashworth, Rachel House, Erica Bryson and Jennifer Conklin finishing 2nd. In the 200 yard freestyle, Emma Miller was 1st with Alex Trobe and Jennifer Conklin finishing 2nd and 3rd. In the 200 yard IM, Pittsford went 1-2-3 with Sarah Dempsey, Green and R. House. In the 50 yard free, Katie Dobler finished 2nd and Shannon Dempsey finished 4th.
Carrie DeMoulin finished 1st in diving. In the 100 yard fly, Sarah Dempsey finished 1st, with Bryson 2nd and Conklin 4th. Next came the 100 yard free with Dobler finishing 2nd and teammates Shannon Dempsey and Emily DiPaulo coming in 4th and 5th. Pittsford went 1-2-3 in the 500 yard freestyle with Green leading the way and Miller and Trobe finishing 2-3. In the 200 yard free relay, the S'Women team of Dobler, Miller, Shannon Dempsey and Trobe came in 2nd with Jennifer Proper, Conklin, Danielle Proper and DiPaulo finishing 4th. In the 100 yard backstroke, Pittsford again went 1-2-3, with Jennifer Proper leading the way and Ashworth and Bryson close behind. Pittsford swam the rest of the meet as exhibition.
In the JV 200 yard medley relay, the team of Jenny Riley, Amanda House, Kala Wilkins and Elizabeth Maier finished 1st with teammates Kaelan Fennell, Andrea Meyer, Emily Himes and Lainy Hummel coming in 2nd. In the 200 yard free, Erin Connolly finished 1st, with Olivia Holodnik 2nd and Paige Hasebe 5th. Pittsford went 1-2-3 in the 200 IM with A. House winning it and Riley and Meyer coming in 2-3. In the 50 yard free, Sydney Ryan was the winner, with Anna Grazulis 3rd and Genevieve Yaeger finishing 5th. Kelsey Telek won the diving for Pittsford. In the 100 yard fly, Pittsford again went 1-2-3 with Ryan, Lydia Hunt and Himes. In the 100 yard free, Maier was the winner, with Hummel in 2nd and Erin Gaffney in 5th. Katie Hart won the 500 yard free with teammates Wilkins and Audrey Hunt coming in 2nd and 3rd. The rest of the meet was swum in exhibition for the JV team.
On Saturday, Pittsford traveled to Canandaigua for the Empire Invitational, where they faced some of the toughest teams in the state, including Ithaca, Canadaigua and Fairport. Pittsford won the meet by 300 points, finishing with 1220 points as a team. In this meet, each team can take 4 entries in each event. It was the depth of the Pittsford team that won this for them as they only had 1 first place in the meet, Trobe in the 200 yard free. In the 200 yard medley relay, the team of Green, Phillips, Sarah Dempsey and Maier finished 3rd, Riley, Mallory Ward, Wilkins and Hart finished 6th, J. Proper, R. House, Conklin and Bryson finished 8th and Connolly, House, D. Proper and DiPaulo finished 11th. Behind Trobe in the 200 yard free, were Miller 3rd, Ashworth 6th and Conklin 13th. In the 200 yard IM, Sarah Dempsey finished 3rd, Green 5th, R. House 8th and Phillips 11th. In the 50 yard free, Dobler finished 2nd, Shannon Dempsey was 5th, Maier was 8th and Wilkins was 10th.
In the 100 yard fly, Sarah Dempsey was 2nd, Bryson 6th, Wilkins 12th and Conklin 13th. In the 100 yard free, Dobler finished 2nd with Shannon Dempsey 4th, Maier 10th and DiPaulo 13th. Pittsford's strongest event was the 500 yard free where they went 2-3-4-6 with Green, Trobe, Miller and D. Proper respectively. Next came the 200 yard free relay with the team of Dobler, Shannon Dempsey, Miller and Trobe finishing 2nd, Riley, A. House, Hart and Maier finishing 7th, Connolly, D. Proper, DiPaulo and J. Proper finishing 9th and Ashworth, R. House, Phillips and Bryson finishing 11th. In the 100 yard backstroke, the 4 Pittsford teammates finished within a half second of each other with Bryson leading the way in 7th, Ashworth in 9th, J. Proper in 10th and Riley in 11th. In the last individual event, the 100 yard breaststroke, Pittsford went 5-6-7-8 with Phillips, Mallory Ward, R. House and A. House respectively. In the last event of the meet, the 400 yard free relay, the team of Shannon Dempsey, Green, Ashworth and Conklin finished 5th with Riley, Hart, Wilkins and Connolly 9th and J. Proper, D. Proper, A. House and DiPaulo finishing 11th.
The S'Women rap up their regular season versus Greece Athena and Greece Odyssey in Greece on Thursday, October 16th.
