Irondequoit & Greece-Olympia 9/17/08

The Pittsford S'Women opened their 2008 season strong on Tuesday, September 9th with a 113-65 victory at home over Irondequoit. The Varsity S'Women swept 6 of the 9 events that they did not swim as exhibition. The S'Women started strong with the 200 yard medley relay team of Meghan Green, Danielle Phillips, Sarah Dempsey and Katie Dobler handily winning with teammates Alex Trobe, Amanda House, Erica Bryson and Emma Miller in 2nd and Maddie Ashworth, Rachel House, Jennifer Conklin and Shannon Dempsey in 3rd. Bryson, Jennifer Proper and Emily DiPaulo finished 1-2-3 in the 200 yard freestyle. In the 200 individual medley, Phillips finished first, with Ashworth 2nd and Amanda House 4th. Trobe sprinted to a victory in the 50 yard freestyle, with Miller close behind in 2nd and Danielle Proper in 5th.

Carrie DeMoulin finished 3rd in diving. The 100 butterfly was a Pittsford sweep, with Dobler winning, Bryson 2nd and Shannon Dempsey in 3rd. Miller, DiPaulo, and Amanda House finished 1-3-4 in the 100 yard freestyle. Sarah Dempsey, Conklin and Rachel House swept the 500 yard freestyle. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Pittsford team of Dobler, Shannon Dempsey, Bryson and DiPaulo finished 1st with Jennifer Proper, Danielle Proper, Phillips and Conklin finishing 2nd. Green won the 100 yard Backstroke, with Trobe and Ashworth finishing 2nd and 3rd. With victory in hand, the S'Women swam the remainder of the meet as exhibition.

The Junior Varsity S'Women extended their long undefeated streak with a solid victory over Irondequoit. The JV S'Women swept every event except 1 before swimming exhibition. In the 200 yard medley relay, Jenny Riley, Mackenzie Ward, Kala Wilkins and Elizabeth Maier won, with teammates, Kaelan Fennell, Mallory Ward, Sydney Ryan and Olivia Holodnik in 2nd and Erin Gaffney, Andrea Meyer, Jenna Mattina and Paige Hasebe in 3rd. Erin Connolly, Audrey Hunt and Emily Himes went 1-2-3 in the 200 yard freestyle as did Wilkins, Holodnik and Laura Petishnok in the 200 yard individual medley. In the 50 yard freestyle, Maier was victorious with teammates Izzy Joynt and Anna Grazulis finishing 2nd and 3rd.

Kelsey Telek won the diving. In the 50 yard butterfly, Pittsford finished 1-2-4 with Wilkins first, followed by Ryan and Genevieve Yaeger. In the 100 yard freestyle, Jamie Tyler was 1st, followed by Fennell and Hasebe. Katie Hart, Lainy Hummel and Mattina swept the 500 yard freestyle. Pittsford also swept the 200 yard freestyle relay with Connolly, Wilkins, Tyler and Hart claiming victory ahead of teammates Holodnik, Fennell, Himes and Lydia Hunt and Yaeger, Briana Viera, Nina Daniels and Gaffney. The remainder of the meet was swum as exhibition.

On Thursday, September 11th, Pittsford traveled to Greece Olympia, where the Varsity S'Women again won big against a combined Olympia and Arcadia team with a score of 93-48. The S'Women swept all of the events except 1 before going into exhibition. The 200 yard medley relay team of Meghan Green, Erica Bryson, Danielle Phillips and Emma Miller finished 1st, with Maddie Ashworth, Jennifer Conklin, Amanda House and Shannon Dempsey 2nd and Jennifer Proper, Emily DiPaulo, Rachel House and Danielle Proper 3rd. In the 200 yard freestyle, Katie Dobler touched out teammate Sarah Dempsey with Phillips finishing 3rd. Miller was victorious in the 200 individual medley with Shannon Dempsey 2nd and Alex Trobe 3rd. In the 50 yard freestyle, Bryson was 1st, Dipaulo 3rd and Conklin 4th.

In the 500 yard freestyle, Shannon Dempsey, Danielle Proper and Emily DiPaulo finished 1-2-3. With Pittsford so far ahead, they swam the rest of the meet as exhibition.

The JV S'Women beat the combined Greece Olympia and Arcadia team 96-51, sweeping all events before going into exhibition. In the JV 200 yard medley relay, the team of Jenny Riley, Kala Wilkins, Mallory Ward and Elizabeth Maier finished ahead of teammates Lydia Hunt, Sydney Ryan, Mackenzie Ward and Katie Hart and teammates Izzy Joynt, Gen Yaeger, Andrea Meyer and Anna Grazulis. In the 200 yard freestyle, Riley, Olivia Holodnik and Lainy Hummel finished 1-2-3 and in the 200 yard IM, Maier, Ryan and Jamie Tyler finished 1-2-3. Next came the 50 free, with Wilkins, Lydia Hunt and Jenna Mattina finishing 1-2-3.

Kelsey Telek won the diving. The 50 yard butterfly was swept by Emily Himes, Briana Viera and Meagan Branch. Erin Connolly won the 100 yard freestyle followed by Audrey Hunt and Mackenzie Ward. In the 500 yard freestyle, Hart was 1st followed by Erin Gaffney and Paige Hasebe. With Pittsford so far ahead, they swam the remainder of the meet as exhibition.

Looking ahead, Pittsford swims Churchville Chili away on Tuesday, September 16th, rival Fairport away on Thursday, September 18th and then they head to the New Hartford Invitational on Saturday, September 20th.
