Twelve Pittsford S’Women travelled to the Nassau County Aquatic Center to compete in the NY State Public High School Athletic Association’s Championship Meet on November 16th and 17th. Jennifer Conklin, Aly Criscuolo, Sarah Dempsey, Katie Dobler, Meghan Green, Kelley Groves, Jenny Lewis, Emma Miller, Morgan Neal, Danielle Phillips, Alex Trobe, and Olivia Tylutki were among the top competitors who qualified for the championships. The Pittsford S’Women finished third overall.
Jenny Lewis was honored as the 2007 Scholar Athlete. Kelley Groves was a finalist from Section V for the honor. The award is based on academics, extra curricular activities and community service. Both Groves and Lewis have qualified for the state championships in individual events for the past 5 years. Aly Criscuolo, Kelley Groves, Jenny Lewis, Morgan Neal and Olivia Tylutki were among the seniors at the meet who received acknowledgment for their dedication to the sport.
In the pool, Lewis successfully defended her title in the 100 yard backstroke and finished 7th in the 100 yard freestyle. She also swam in the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay, both finishing 3rd.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Lewis, Phillips, Criscuolo and Groves was narrowly touched out for third place. In the 200 yard freestyle, Miller finished 18th and Conklin 27th. Dempsey finished 29th in the 200 yard individual medley. Groves won her heat, finishing 11th in the 50 yard freestyle. Neal competed in the 1 meter diving.
In the 100 yard freestyle with Groves in 24th and Dobler in 30th. Miller finished 12th in the 500 yard freestyle, Trobe touched in 24th and Green in 25th. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Dempsey, Dobler, Conklin and Trobe won their heat finishing 11th in the meet.
Lewis took top honors in the 100 yard backstroke. Phillips finished 17th in the 100 yard breaststroke. The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Dobler, Dempsey, Groves and Lewis finished in 3rd place.
