The 2005 Pittsford S’Women have been training hard in the preseason, looking to extend its 3 year streak as Section V Class A Women’s Swimming and Diving champions.
Led by senior captains, Jenna Arington and Emily Wells, the team looks to build on three years as the number one team in New York State. Last year’s team scored the most NISCA Power Points in the history of women’s swimming in New York.
Returning Section V champions include senior Hailey Weniger, the Division I Swimmer of the Year and winner of the 500 yard freestyle, junior Jessie Ward, winner of the 100 yard breaststroke, and sophomore Jenny Lewis, the 100 yard backstroke champion. Lewis, Ward and sophomore Kelly Groves were members of the champion 200 yard medley relay. Returning members of the State swim team include the sectional champions along with Arington, senior diver Eliza Massie, junior Lindsay Wahl and freshman Alex Trobe.
Other returning varsity swimmers include senior Amanda Lang, junior Claire Geiser, sophomores Aly Criscuolo and Olivia Tylutki and freshman Meghan Green. Newcomers to the Varsity team are seniors Jordan Snyder, the Junior Varsity captain, and Courtney Thompson, juniors Karin Lee and Sophia Salvia, sophomores Kelly Geary and Lindsay Matthews, and freshmen Rachel House and Emma Miller.
Divers for this year include Massie, sophomores Alana Biltucci, Rachel Delahunta, Hilary DuBeshter and Morgan Neal and seventh grader Katelyn Barclay.
Swimming for the Junior Varsity S’Women this year will be Madeline Ashworth, Katie Burch, Jackie Burke, Theresa Catteau, Jennifer Conklin, Maggie Craig, Sarah Craig, Sarah Dempsey, Emily DiPaulo, Kathryn Dobler, Mandy Ellis, Grace Encheman, Rosemarie Entress, Deniz Harland, Katie Hart, Vicky Lagas, Kelsey McManus, Julie Marello, Elise Morris, Brittany O’Connor, Katherine Ross, Stephanie Ross, Bonita Sur, Catherine Tuttle, Katie Yan and Rebecca Zeidman.
Marty Keating continues his tenure as Varsity coach. Beth Dobberstein and Laura Price return as the Junior Varsity and Diving coaches, respectively.
The S’Women open their season at Pittsford Mendon High School on Thursday, September 8th at 4:30 pm with a meet against Hilton.
