Team and Individual Process
Information about Academic All-American:  Individual and Team

1. We would like to make sure that everyone is aware of all awards that they are potentially eligible for.  The first award is the Team Scholar Award. This is for the ENTIRE Varsity team.  It will access our overall GPA as a team.  Scott Barker will handle the obtainment and calculation of everyone’s weighted cumulative GPA.  So basically you do not have to do anything, we just wanted to give you a heads up.

Gold =          3.75 – 4.00

Silver =         3.50 – 3.74

Bronze =      3.20 – 3.49

*All Varsity swimmers will be included in the application for this award.

2. Individual Academic All-American is available for seniors only who have been on varsity for at least 2 years.  It uses your weighted GPA so make sure you follow the instructions on the website below.  Compute using “Option 2: I am using NISCA weighting scale to compute weighted GPA”.  In order to receive this award, your application must be mailed in immediately after you receive your grades from the first semester of your senior year. Ask your counselor for a copy of your transcript.
* This form is optional.  Any questions about the application process, please contact your captains.
* 8th grade year does not count in cumulative GPA, and GPA only consists of CORE subjects.

To qualify for this award, you must: (A) have a minimum GPA of 3.750 on a 4 point scale, or 93.7500% of the grade scale your school uses for 7 semesters/11 trimesters. GPA may not be rounded up. (Your school’s grade scale is determined by the point value awarded a regular, non-weighted “A”; examples are listed on the back of the application); (B) be a graduating senior; (C) have lettered in your high school program (swimming, diving, or water polo) your senior year. A copy of your transcript is required. For questions, contact the  Academic All America Chair.

Check out Niagaraswim.org for information on other swim/dive related things like the Power Point Award.

Another Note: Although neither one of these awards may pertain directly to you, keep them in mind for the future, so you will know what is required of you in order to earn these awards.
