Pittsford S’Women down the Comets,

recognize Head Coach Marty Keating

 

Pittsford, October 11, 2010:

The Royal Comets of Rush Henrietta traveled just a few minutes down the street to face off against the S’Women of Pittsford last Tuesday. 

 

Kicking off the meet was a brief ceremony honoring Pittsford’s Varsity Head Coach Marty Keating who was recently named the 2010 National High School Coach of the Year by the NHSCA.  After a few remarks by Scott Barker, the district’s Athletic director, Coach Keating was presented a plaque commemorating the honor before a crowd of well wishers.

 

With the celebration concluded, it was time for the 200 IM Relay.  Pittsford’s foursome of Jennifer Proper, Danielle Phillips, Erica Bryson and Kala Wilkins swam to first place with a time of 1:56.79.  Second place went to the relay of Jenny Riley, Mallory Ward, Sydney Ryan and Elizabeth Maier (1:59.51) followed by a fourth place finish by Emily Carroll, Kenzie Ward, Lydia Hunt and Lainy Hummel (2:11.95).

 

Jennifer Proper won a close race in the 200 Free (2:03.02) while Danielle Phillips and Anna Grazulis finished fourth (2:05.49) and fifth (2:05.71).

 

Shannon Dempsey and Amanda House finished 1-2 in the 200 IM with times of 2:23.53 and 2:28.65 respectively.

 

In the 50 Free, Elizabeth Maier placed second (25.88) followed by Jenny Riley and Kala Wilkins who finished in third (26.11) and fourth (26.23).

 

Carrie DeMoulin won the diving competition scoring 171.25 points.

 

Erica Bryson won the 100 Fly in a time of 1:02.36 followed by Elizabeth Maier who placed second (1:04.87).

 

Jenny Riley finished second (57.19) in the 100 Free.  Anna Grazulis and Kaelan Fennell swam to fourth (58.35) and fifth (1:00.68) place finishes. 

 

Winning the 500 Free was Shannon Dempsey (5:25.24) while Stephanie Andrews swam a 5:46.57 to finish fourth and Sydney Ryan placed sixth (6:04.80).

 

Pittsford’s Anna Grazulis, Elizabeth Maier, Jenny Riley and Kala Wilkins finished second (1:43.32) in the 200 Free Relay.  Third place went to the combo of Shannon Dempsey, Stephanie Andrews, Amanda House and Olivia Holodnik (1:48.39).  Taking fifth was Kaelan Fennell, Sydney Ryan, Lainy Hummel and Carrie DeMoulin (1:59.58).

 

Danielle Proper won the 100 Back in a time of 1:07.08 while Olivia Holodnik finished second (1:08.13) and Emily Carroll third (1:15.98).

 

The 100 Breast was won by Amanda House in a time of 1:13.23.  Kala Wilkins placed third (1:16.50) and Lydia Hunt finished sixth (1:31.98).

 

In the 400 Free Relay, Jennifer Proper, Erica Bryson, Danielle Phillips and Anna Grazulis finished second (3:46.71) and the combination of Stephanie Andrews, Mallory Ward, Shannon Dempsey and Olivia Holodnik placed third (4:04.18).

 

In JV competition, Pittsford’s A, B and C relays finished 1-2-3 in the 200 IM.  Julia Cavanagh, Caroline Tuttle, Meagan Branch and Audrey Hunt finished first (2:11.43) while Olivia Gallagher, Genevieve Yaeger, Alyssa Likly and Olivia Waldman placed second (2:17.70).  Laura Petishnok, Linda Fan, Leslie Davidoff and Nina Daniels placed third with a time of 2:25.43.

 

Katie McPherson, Caroline Curran and Izzy Joynt swam to first place (2:18.00), second (2:20.57) and third place (2:21.33) finishes in the 200 Free.

 

In the 200 IM, Meagan Branch took first (2:38.28) while second place went to Julia Cavanagh (2:52.80) and third went to Olivia Gallagher (2:52.88).

 

Audrey Hunt (28.42), Caroline Tuttle (29.59) and Caroline Slebodnik (31.73) went 1-2-3 in the 50 Free. 

 

In the 100 Fly, Meagan Branch finished first with a time of 1:09.31.  Olivia Waldman picked up second (1:18.82).

 

Katie McPherson won the 100 Free in a time of 1:02.74 while Nina Daniels won the 500 Free with a 6:19.50 and Laura Petishnok took third (6:38.04).

 

The 200 Free Relay went to the combination of McPherson, Tuttle, Likly and Hunt with a time of 1:57.70.  Second went to Joynt, Fan, Davidoff and Waldman (2:02.08) while Higgins, Kumar, Farid and Yaeger took fourth place (2:19.91).

 

In the 100 Back, Caroline Curran took first in a time of 1:11.48 while Julia Cavanagh finished a very close second (1:11.89).  Caroline Slebodnik finished fourth (1:25.90).

 

Pittsford went 1-2-3 in the 100 Breast.  Caroline Tuttle (1:23.37) won the event followed by Genevieve Yaeger who finished second (1:25.80) and Audrey Higgins third (1:32.47).

 

The 400 Free Relay was won by the combination of Branch, Joynt, Cavanagh, and McPherson (4:26.75).  In second was the combo of Daniels, Petishnok, Selbodnik and Curran (4:36.15).  Third place went to Fan, Gallagher, Kumar and Mayall who finished in 5:10.93.

 

Both the varsity and junior varsity went on to win convincingly and improve their dual meet records.
