Pittsford S’Women defeat the Patriots and Lakers



Pittsford, October 18, 2010:

The Pittsford S’Women enjoyed another home stand last week; swimming against the Patriots of Penfield on Tuesday and the Webster Lakers on Thursday.

 

Kicking off the meet against Penfield was the foursome of Jennifer Proper, Danielle Phillips, Erica Bryson and Kala Wilkins who won the 200 Medley Relay in a time of 1:56.36.  Third place (1:58.93) went to the “B” relay of Jenny Riley, Mallory Ward, Sydney Ryan and Elizabeth Maier.  Olivia Roche, Amanda House, Lydia Hunt and Kenzie Ward finished in fifth place with a time of 2:06.59.

 

In the 200 Free, Shannon Dempsey finished second (2:02.94), Stephanie Andrews third (2:07.77) and Olivia Roche picked up fifth place (2:10.99).

 

Danielle Phillips won the 200 IM in a time of 2:17.84 while Jennifer Proper finished third (2:23.31) and Amanda House placed fifth (2:26.50).

 

Pittsford finished 1-2-3 in the 50 Free.  Jenny Riley posted the fastest time swimming a 25.73 while Elizabeth Maier picked up second place (25.85) and Kala Wilkins finished third (26.29).

 

Erica Bryson won the 100 Fly in a time of 1:01.52. Jennifer and Danielle Proper finished third (1:05.09) and fifth (1:10.02) respectively.

 

Carrie DeMoulin won the diving competition with a score of 183.1 points.

 

Kala Wilkins and Elizabeth Maier went 1-2 in the 100 Free.  Kala swam a 56.89 while Elizabeth went a 57.05.  Anna Grazulis placed fourth with a time of 58.29.

 

In the 500 Free, Erica Bryson finished first in a time 5:25.24, Shannon Dempsey second (5:27.72) and in third was Olivia Holodnik (5:30.99).

 

The 200 Free Relay of Anna Grazulis, Elizabeth Maier, Jenny Riley and Kala Wilkins won the event (1:43.34).  Placing second was the “B” relay of Olivia Holodnik, Stephanie Andrews, Shannon Dempsey and Olivia Roche (1:48.81).  Fourth place went to the foursome of Mallory Ward, Sydney Ryan, Kaelan Fennell and Lydia Hunt (1:51.89).

 

Jenny Riley won the 100 Back in a time of 1:05.18.  Danielle Proper finished fourth (1:09.86) followed by Olivia Holodnik (1:11.09) who placed fifth.

 

In the 100 Breast, it came down to the touch with Mallory Ward finishing in first (1:11.64) and Danielle Phillips second (1:11.69).  Amanda House placed fifth with a time of 1:15.06.

 

The 400 Free Relay was won by the “A” foursome of Jennifer Proper, Danielle Phillips, Anna Grazulis and Erica Bryson (3:49.68).  Second place went to the group of Stephanie Andrews, Olivia Roche, Olivia Holodnik and Shannon Dempsey (4:03.25) and fourth place to the “C” relay of Kaelan Fennell, Sydney Ryan, Kenzie Ward and Lydia Hunt (4:08.95).

 

Final score:  Pittsford Varsity 125, Penfield 60.

 

In the JV competition, Pittsford finished 1-2 in the 200 Medley Relay.  Julia Cavanagh, Caroline Tuttle, Meagan Branch and Katie McPherson won the event with a time of 2:10.62.  Second place went to the “B” relay of Olivia Gallagher, Linda Fan, Leslie Davidoff and Nina Daniels (2:21.53).  The “C” relay of Laura Petishnok, Audrey Higgins, Genevieve Yaeger and Katie Selbodnik placed fourth (2:30.82).

 

Audrey Hunt, Alyssa Likly, and Caroline Curran finished first (2:10.42), third (2:18.69) and fourth (2:23.44) in the 200 Free.

 

The 200 IM was won by Meagan Branch (2:37.34).  Olivia Waldman placed third (2:48.15) and Linda Fan fourth (2:52.08).

 

Katie McPherson won the 50 Free in a time of 28.73 while Caroline Tuttle took third (29.69) and Nina Daniels fifth (29.90).

 

Meagan Branch picked up where she left off in the 200 IM to win the 100 Fly (1:08.84).  Alyssa Likely took second (1:15.10) and Leslie Davidoff fourth (1:20.58).

 

After a brief rest, Katie McPherson went back to work, winning the 100 Free in a time of 1:03.94.  Olivia Waldman placed fourth with a time of 1:05.82 and Caroline Slebodnik finished sixth (1:09.74).

 

In the 500 Free, Audrey Hunt’s 5:54.60 was plenty to win the event.  Nina Daniels finished third with a 6:26.76 and Laura Petishnok claimed fourth (6:37.24).

 

The 200 Free Relay was won (1:57.59) by the combo of Katie McPherson, Alyssa Likly, Olivia Waldman and Audrey Hunt.   Third place went to the relay of Caroline Curran, Julia Cavanagh, Linda Fan and Caroline Tuttle (2:03.39). Audrey Higgins, Iman Farid, Sanjana Kumar and Megan Mayall finished sixth (2:20.88).

 

Caroline Curran (1:12.05) and Julia Cavanagh (1:12.63) went 1-2 in the 100 Back while Olivia Gallagher finished fifth (1:18.99).

 

In the 100 Breast, Caroline Tuttle finished second (1:23.32) while Genevieve Yaeger and Linda Fan finished fourth (1:25.77) and fifth (1:29.25) respectively.

 

The “A” relay of Meagan Branch, Alyssa Likly, Nina Daniels and Audrey Hunt won the 400 Free Relay (4:19.71).  Olivia Waldman, Caroline Curran, Laura Petishnok and Julia Cavanagh placed third (4:32.45) and the combo of Audrey, Sanjana Kumar, Megan Mayall and Leslie Davidoff finished fifth (5:02.74).

 

Final score:  The Pittsford JV 113, Penfield 63.

 

Thursday was Senior Day for the Pittsford S’Women, so the emotions were high as the team took on the Lakers from Webster.

 

In the 200 Medley Relay, the foursome of Jenny Riley, Danielle Phillips, Erica Bryson and Elizabeth Maier were able to improve on their time from earlier in the week, swimming the event in 1:54.94. That first place was followed by a second place finish by the “B” relay of Jennifer Proper, Mallory Ward, Lydia Hunt and Stephanie Andrews (1:59.25).  Coming in fourth was the group of Olivia Roche, Amanda House, Sydney Ryan and Kaelan Fennell (2:06.27).  

 

Pittsford went 1-2 in the 200 Free.  Erica Bryson won the event in a time of 2:01.39 while Anna Grazulis finished second (2:06.31).  Mallory Ward placed fifth place (2:13.41) 

 

In the 200 IM, the team finished 1-2-3.  Danielle Phillips placed first with a time of 2:18.65 while Shannon Dempsey and Amanda House placed second (2:20.97) and third (2:25.17) respectively.

 

In the 50 Free, the S’Women once again finished 1-2-3.  Jenny Riley was first (25.45), Elizabeth Maier second (25.85) and Kala Wilkins third (26.18).

 

Immediately following the diving competition - in which Carrie DeMoulin won – time was set aside to honor the accomplishments and dedication of the seniors from both teams. 

 

First, it was the five senior swimmers from Webster who were introduced.  As their names were read, each was given a flower and after a round of applause, it was Pittsford’s turn.  Escorted to the front of the bleachers, where a sizeable home crowd had gathered, each senior was introduced by teammates from the junior class.  Memories were shared; there were hugs and tears followed by each senior being given a bouquet of flowers.  Honored were Co-Captains Erica Bryson and Mallory Ward, Emily Carroll, Danielle Phillips, Jenna Mattina, Kaelan Fennell, Carrie DeMoulin, Lainy Hummel, Courtney Stern and Lydia Hunt. 

 

Once the ceremony had concluded, both teams warmed up and the meet resumed with the swimming of the 100 Fly.  Pittsford’s Elizabeth Maier won the event with a time of 1:04.41 while Olivia Holodnik (1:04.86) and Jenny Riley (1:05.31) finished second an third.

 

Kala Wilkins and Stephanie Andrews went 1-2 in  Kala posted a 56.30 while Stephanie swam the event in a 58.50.  Olivia Roche finished in sixth place (1:02.11). the 100 Free event.

 

Danielle Proper won the 500 Free in a time of 5:38.16.  Right behind her was Amanda House who finished second (5:44.93). Lydia Hunt placed fifth with a time of 6:18.52.

 

The group of Stephanie Andrews, Elizabeth Maier, Jenny Riley and Kala Wilkins won the 200 Free Relay in a time of 1:41.64.  In second place was Pittsford’s “B” relay of Olivia Holodnik, Anna Grazulis, Kaelan Fennell and Shannon Dempsey (1:47.08). The foursome of Olivia Roche, Kenzie Ward, Sydney Ryan and Lydia Hunt finished fourth (1:53.72).

 

Jennifer Proper won the 100 Back (1:04.27) while Erica Bryson finished a close second (1:04.88). Danielle Phillips placed third (1:07.28).

 

In the 100 Breast, Mallory Ward finished second in a time of 1:12.16 while Shannon Dempsey placed third (1:14.41) and Kenzie Ward came in fourth (1:17.42).

 

In the final event of the day, Jennifer Proper, Danielle Phillips, Kala Wilkins and Erica Bryson won the 400 Free Relay in a time of 3:46.93, knocking three seconds off their time from earlier in the week.  Coming in third was the foursome of Stephanie Andrews, Olivia Roche, Olivia Holodnik and Shannon Dempsey (3:58.95) while in fifth place was the relay of Kaelan Fennell, Lainy Hummel, Emily Carroll and Courtney Stern (4:21.83).

 

In the JV portion of the meet,  Pittsford’s “A” foursome of Julia Cavanagh, Caroline Tuttle, Meagan Branch and Audrey Hunt won the 200 Medley Relay (2:08.81).  Coming in third (2:15.89) was Olivia Gallagher, Linda Fan, Alyssa Likly, and Izzy Joynt.   Fourth place (2:24.49) went to the “C” relay of Katie Slebodnik, Genevieve Yaeger, Leslie Davidoff and Meagn Mayall.

 

Pittsford went 1-2-3 in the 200 Free. Katie McPherson won the event in a time of 2:16.78 while Caroline Curran finished second (2:21.02) and Nina Daniels placed third (2:22.73).

 

Meagan Branch won the 200 IM with a 2:36.44.  Olivia Gallagher came in third (2:52.67) and Laura Petishnok swam to a fourth place finish (2:53.62).

 

In the 50 Free, Audrey Hunt and Olivia Waldman finished 1-2 with times of 27.53 and 28.43.  Katie Slebodnik placed sixth (31.26).

 

The JV went 1-2-3 in the 100 Fly. Alyssa Likly, Leslie Davidoff and Genevieve Yaeger put their stamp on the event going a 1:11.85, 1:17.72 and 1:22.03 respectively.

 

The results of the 100 Free were similar.  Audrey Hunt (1:01.06), Katie McPherson (1:01.81) and Laura Petishnok (1:08.02) finished 1-2-3.

 

The 500 Free was all Pittsford as well.  Izzy Joynt placed first (6:19.44), Nina Daniels second (6:22.50) and Julia Cavanagh third (6:32.26).

 

In the 200 Free Relay, the “A” combo of Meagan Branch, Olivia Waldman, Audrey Hunt and Katie McPherson finished first in a time of 1:56.89. In third place (2:03.34) was the “B” relay of Caroline Tuttle, Katie Slebodnik, Laura Petishnok and Linda Fan.  Fifth place went to the “C” relay of Audrey Higgins, Iman Farid, Sanjana Kumar and Meagn Mayall (2:21.76).

 

Caroline Curran won the 100 Back with a time of 1:12.09.  Julia Cavanagh was a close second (1:12.22) and Olivia Gallagher placed fourth (1:17.52).

 

The 100 Breast was won by Caroline Tuttle (1:20.79) with Meagan Branch finishing second (1:23.47).   Linda Fan placed fifth with a time of 1:28.40.

 

Pittsford’s JV went 1-2 in the 400 Free Relay.  Izzy Joynt, Alyssa Likly, Olivia Waldman and Katie McPherson won with a time of 4:18.78.  In second place (4:34.37) was the relay of Audrey Higgins, Caroline Curran, Laura Petishnok and Nina Daniels.  Meagn Mayall, Sanjana Kumar, Genevieve Yaeger and Iman Farid finished in fourth place (5:17.35). 

 

When it was all over, Senior Day ended with both the Varsity and JV teams winning big.

 

Competition continues tomorrow, Saturday October 23rd, when the Junior Varsity team competes in the MCCIs.  The meet, located at the Webster Aquatic Center, will begin at 9:00am.

 

Sectional prelims for the Varsity will also be held at the Webster Aquatic Center beginning at 5:00pm on Thursday November 4th.
