The Pittsford-Fairport girls’ swimming and diving meet always brings a lot of attention. This year was no exception; especially since last year Fairport narrowly defeated Pittsford by a technicality. Little did the Fairport Swimming Raiders know that they had awoken a sleeping giant. The Pittsford Varsity S’Women left no doubt who the team to beat is this year as they handily defeated Fairport 128-57, the largest margin in this rivalry that anyone can remember.
The S’Women won all but 2 events as they powered their way to victory. Jenny Lewis was a quadruple winner and teammate Emma Miller was a double winner sparking outstanding performances by the entire team.  The S’Women set the tone of the meet in the very first event the 200 yard medley relay. The team of Lewis, Danielle Phillips, Aly Criscuolo and Kelley Groves turned in their best time of the season, 1:52.67, winning the race. The surprise was that their teammates, Olivia Tylutki, Stephanie Ross, Jennifer Conklin and Miller out swam a strong Fairport entry to finish second. Miller and Conklin continued the 1-2 combination in the 200 yard freestyle with Alex Trobe touching in fourth. Jenna Wood of Fairport finished in third. Sarah Dempsey won the 200 yard individual medley touching ahead of Emily Gardner of Fairport. Meghan Green and Rachel House had strong showings to finish 3rd and 4th.
Amidst chants of “one-two” from the Pittsford fans, Groves and Katie Dobler added to the 1-2 punch in the 50 yard freestyle. Kelly Geary finished fifth. Divers Morgan Neal, Rachel Delahunta and Alana Biltucci also rose to the occasion and turned in their best performances of the year, finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th behind a very strong Jenny Chiang of Fairport.
Conklin, Dempsey and Criscuolo finished 1-2-5 in the 100 yard butterfly. Lewis, Groves and Dobler swept the 100 yard freestyle with a 1-2-3 finish. The 500 yard freestyle saw another 1-2-4 performance by Miller, Green and Trobe. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Dempsey, Dobler, Green and Trobe outpaced the Fairport sprinters. Teammates Geary, House, Criscuolo and Conklin finished a strong 3rd.
Lewis won the 100 yard backstroke with Tylutki touching in 3rd in a field of very strong entries from Fairport. Phillips, House and Ross finished 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the 100 yard breaststroke. Dobler, Dempsey, Groves and Lewis powered by the Raiders in the 400 yard freestyle relay while teammates Green, Geary, Miller and Trobe finished in 3rd.
The JV S’Women were equally successful continuing their multi-season undefeated streak with a 146-34 win. Erica Bryson was a double winner.  Pittsford opened the meet sweeping the top 3 places in the 200 yard medley relay.  The team of Jennifer Proper, Amanda House, Danielle Proper and Emily DiPaulo won, Jennifer Rilery, Mallory Ward, Kala Wilkins and Shannon Dempsey finished 2nd, and Kaelen Fennell, Deniz Harland, Sydney Ryan and Lydia Hunt were 3rd. Bryson broke her own JV record in the 200 yard freestyle as she led another sweep with Kate Hart and Erin Connolly in 2nd and 3rd. J. Proper, House and Riley swept the 200 yard individual medley. DiPaulo, Dempsey and D. Proper did the same in the 50 yard freestyle.
Carrie DeMoulin won diving. Wilkins, Ryan and Emily Himes swept the 50 yard butterfly. Dempsey, DiPaulo and J. Proper did the same in the 100 yard freestyle.  Bryson, Hart and Helaina Hummel swept the 500 yard freestyle. DiPaulo, J. Proper, Bryson and Dempsey won the 200 yard freestyle relay. Fennell, Jamie Tyler, Connolly and Hart were 2nd.  Riley won the 100 yard  backstroke with D. Proper  in 2nd and Emily Carroll in 3rd. Ward, House and Harland swept the 100 yard breaststroke. Bryson, Tyler, Riley and D. Proper won the 400 yard freestyle relay. Carroll, Hunt, Himes and Hummel finished 2nd and Hasebe, Julie Marello, Jenna Mattina and Catherine Tuttle finished 3rd.
Earlier in the week, the S’Women travelled to Churchville Chili where the Varsity won 101-66 and the JV won 104-61. The S’Women set 4 pool records – Lewis, Miller, Geary and Groves in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:53.92, Green in the 200 yard freestyle – 2:00.17, Dobler in the 100 yard freestyle – 55.90 and Lewis, Groves, Geary and Dobler in the 200 yard freestyle relay – 1:43.41.
