Pittsford Swimming and Diving Team Remain Undefeated

Senior Swimmers Honored

 

The Lady Panther Swimming and Diving team extended their record to 11-0 after defeating the Gates-Chili Spartans 101-75 at the Mendon pool last Thursday.   The meet was the final home meet for the eight graduating seniors on the team.  Each senior was honored and received a red rose by a junior swimmer, along with a speech highlighting the seniors’ best attributes and special memories. Seniors Susan Allen, Katie Harris, and Kate Wilson celebrated their sixth year with the team, jumpstarting their Varsity career as 7th graders. During their swimming tenure, they have each earned All- County, All -State, and All-American Consideration honors.  Teammates Allison Kant, Lindsay Richardson, and Diana Newman have been on the team for five years, along with Erin Bankey who has participated on the team for three years, and Lauren Wilson swimming for two years. Richardson is a Co-Captain of the team this year and along with Erin Bankey and Allison Kant participated in last season’s sectional championship meet.  Teammates Diana Newman and Lauren Wilson participated in the MCCI championship meet last season with outstanding performances.

 

On Saturday, October 11th the Lady Panthers traveled to Lockport to compete against a strong Section VI team.  Pittsford dominated the competition, placing first in 10 out of the 12 events.  The Lady Panther’s brought home another win for their record, 119-67, and left their mark at the Lockport Pool by setting four pool records. The 200 medley-relay team of Allen, Harris, Brush, and Wilson set the first of four, with Hailey Weniger setting pool records in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Susan Allen completed the set with a new pool record in the 100 backstroke. Highlights of the meet were best time swims by Lindsay Wahl in the 200 free, (2:03.73), Libby Brush in the 200 IM (2:15.62) Allen in the 200 IM (2:18.44), Stephie House in the 50 free (25.43), Jenny Lewis in the 50 free (26.07), Eliza Massie in Diving, (221.35 points) .  Pittsford concluded their dual meet season on October 21st against Penfield and will prepare for the sectional meet on November 6th and 8th.
