Lady Panther Swimmers and Divers Dominate Season Openers

 

The Lady Panther Swimming and Diving Team hit the water last Tuesday and Thursday, dominating the competition.  The team traveled to Brighton Tuesday, and swept the meet placing first in all twelve events.  The 200 medley relay teams set the tone of the meet, with the team of Susan Allen, Katie Harris, Libby Brush, and Kate Wilson placing first.  Teammates Lindsay Wahl, Jessie Ward, Courtney Brayman, and Jenna Arington placed 2nd, with Amanda Lang, Rebecca Hazen, Emily Wells, and Lindsay Richardson touching in with a strong performance.

 

First place wins were earned by Libby Brush in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Stephanie House in the 200 IM and 100 back, Hailey Weniger in the 50 free and 100 free, Kate Wilson in the 100 fly, and Allen in the 100 breast. The 200 freestyle relay team of House, Allen, Weniger and Kate Wilson placed first, with Arington, Wahl, Lisa Prezzano, and Lindsay Richardson placing second.  Allison Kant, Diana Newman, Lauren Wilson, and Erin Bankey had a strong finish.  The meet closed with the 400 freestyle relay team of House, Brush, Weniger, and Harris placing 1st, Wahl, Brayman, Prezzano, and Richardson placing second, and Kant, Lauren Wilson, Newman, and Wells touching in 4th at the wall. The Lady Panther divers extended the first place win to the diving well, as Eliza Massie placed 1st, and Ashley Slaughter earned 4th place points.  The final meet score was Pittsford 120, Brighton 61.

 

Thursday the Lady Panthers hosted the Brockport team.  Pittsford won all three relays, and placed 1st in six out of the nine individual events. Diver, Eliza Massie posted a 1st place win, with teammate Ashley Slaughter earning 3rd place honors.

 

All three-relay teams posted first place wins.  The medley relay team of Susan Allen, Katie Harris, Libby Brush, and Kate Wilson earned a first place.  The 200 free relay team of Stephanie House, Hailey Weniger, Allen, and Wilson turned in the top performance.  The 400 free relay team of House, Jenna Arington, Weniger, and Kate Wilson extended the wining streak with their first place win. Teammates Rebecca Hazen, Amanda Lang, Emily Wells, Lindsay Wahl, Jessie Ward, and Courtney Brayman, Lisa Prezzano, Lindsay Richardson, Erin Bankey, Lauren Wilson, Diana Newman, and Allison Kant swam on relays that also contributed to the Pittsford win.

 

Top finishers in individual events for Pittsford were House placing 1st in the 200 free and 100 free.  Kate Wilson placed 2nd in the 200 IM, Allen 2nd in the 200 and 500 free, Brush 1st in the 100 breast, and 2nd in the 50 free, Harris 2nd in the 500 free, Prezzano 2nd in the 100 fly, Wahl 3rd in the 50 free, and 4th in the, 100 free, Wells 4th in the 200 and 500 free, Arington 3rd in the 200 I.M., and Brayman 2nd in the 100 free, Hazen 2nd in the 100 breast, and Bankey 3rd in the 100 fly, Weniger 1st in the 100 back, and Lang 2nd in the 100 back.  Pittsford concluded the meet winning 105-76.

 

The Pittsford Junior Varsity Swimmers also started the season off with two wins.  They defeated Brighton 127-49 and Brockport 101-64. Against Brighton, the Pittsford 200 medley relay team of Jenny Lewis, Aly Criscuolo, Kelly McMahon and Kathryn Harper finished first with Olivia Tylukti, Brittany O’Conner, Sophia Salvia and Isha Saini behind them in second place. Kylie Brandt won the 200-yard freestyle with Kelly Beamish and Mandy Ellis finishing 3rd and 5th. Pittsford swept the 200 yard individual medley with Criscuolo, Tylukti, and Alexa Ashworth going 1-2-3. Harper finished 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle with Jacky Davis just behind her in 3rd.  Teammate Allie Pink earned 5th place points.

 

In the 50-yard butterfly, Criscuolo tied for first place, O’Connor was third and Elise Morris touched in at 4th. Geiser, Saini and Elyse Nye swept the 100 yard freestyle, earning the top three places.  Kelly Geary won the 500-yard freestyle with teammates Karin Lee in third and Ellis in 5th. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Harper, Criscuolo, Geary and Geiser touched first with Beamish, Davis, Pink and Brandt in second. Molly Rutledge, Priya Sonty, Samantha Robbins and Caitlin O’Leary turned in a strong performance. Lewis, Chelsea McNamara and Lindsay Matthews swept the 100-yard backstroke for Pittsford. Jenny Lewis jump-started her high school swimming career by breaking the JV school record in the 100-yard backstroke. McMahon won the 100-yard breaststroke with Jordan Snyder in second and Salvia in fourth. Lewis, Tylukti, Brandt and Geiser won the 400 yard freestyle relay. Lee, Matthews, Hannah Bigeleisen and O’Conner finished second. Kelly Morgenfeld, O’Leary, Sonty and Nye also swam for Pittsford.

 

Lewis, Criscuolo, Geiser and Harper opened the meet against Brockport with a victory and new J.V. school record in the 200-yard medley relay. Brandt, Morris, Snyder and Morgenfeld placed second McMahon, Tylkuti and Saini finished first, second and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle. Lewis won the 200 yard individual medley with Brandt in second and McNamara in fourth. Criscuolo finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with Matthews right behind her in third place.

 

Morris swam to a first place finish in the 50 yard butterfly with O’Conner and Beamish in 2nd and 4th. Harper, Davis and Pink raced to a 1-2-4 finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Geary, Bigeleisen and Lee did the same in the 500-yard freestyle. Harper, Criscuolo, Tylukti and Lewis won the 200 yard freestyle relay with the team of O’Conner, Pink, Geiser and Davis in second. Tylukti won the 100-yard backstroke. Ashworth finished second. The remainder of the meet was swum as exhibition by the Pittsford swimmers.
